A jewelry store needs more from its point of sale than a general retailer: repairs and custom jobs, appraisals, memo, serialized pieces with certificates, and customers you know by name. Here is how the main systems compare, what they cost where prices are published, and who each one fits.
Written by the Flawless POS team. We make one of the systems below, so we link to every vendor's own site and say where another system is the better fit. Facts and prices come from each vendor's website as of October 14, 2026.
Short answer: for an independent jeweler who wants one system for the whole store, Flawless POS covers the most ground: POS, repairs, appraisals, memo, RFID inventory, clienteling, texting and store phones, a website and card processing. The Edge is the most widely used jewelry system. Jewel360 and Crystal are cloud systems built for jewelers. Lightspeed and Shopify POS suit stores that sell mostly finished goods or sell mostly online.

Bring these questions to every demo. A vendor who answers all of them with "yes, built in" saves you from paying for five tools.
Repairs and custom work: photos at intake, deposits, due dates, bench and vendor status, and a text when it is ready.
Appraisals: can you produce them from the item record?
Memo and consignment: does the system know which pieces you own and which you do not?
Serialized pieces: certificates (GIA and others) attached to the item, not a spreadsheet.
Inventory counts: how long a full count takes, and whether RFID is an option.
Customers: ring sizes, anniversaries, wish lists and purchase history on one record.
Texts and calls: can staff text and call from the store number, with the history on the customer record?
Website: does your online store update itself from inventory?
Mobile: can you sell, look up a customer and count inventory from a phone or iPad?
Switching: who moves your data and trains your staff, and can you talk to stores that switched?
Processing: what you pay per card swipe, and whether the rate is locked.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best POS system for a jewelry store?
For most independent jewelers, the best POS is one built for jewelry: it tracks repairs and custom jobs, appraisals, memo and consignment, and serialized pieces with certificates, alongside sales and customers. Flawless POS does all of that in one system and adds RFID inventory, texting and store phones, an AI receptionist, a website synced with inventory and card processing. The Edge is the most widely used legacy system, Jewel360 and Crystal are cloud systems for jewelers, and Lightspeed or Shopify POS fit stores that sell mostly finished goods or sell mostly online.
How much does jewelry POS software cost?
Published prices in October 2026 range from about $89 a month for general retail POS plans (Lightspeed Retail Basic, or Shopify POS Pro at $89 per location plus a Shopify plan from $39) to $169 a month and up for PIRO Retail, a jewelry-specific cloud system. Jewel360 lists a Startup plan at $199 to $299 a month. The Edge, Crystal, WJewel and Flawless POS price by quote or calculator. Card processing is usually a bigger cost than the software, and with Flawless the processing savings cover the software in most cases.
What is the difference between a jewelry POS and a regular POS?
A regular retail POS sells items from stock. A jewelry POS also handles the work around the sale: repairs and custom builds with photos and deposits, appraisals, memo goods you do not own yet, consignment, serialized pieces with GIA or other certificates, layaway and special orders, and clienteling details like ring sizes and anniversaries.
Is Shopify POS good for jewelry stores?
Shopify POS is a strong choice if most of your sales happen online and your in-store work is mostly selling finished pieces. Jewelry workflows such as repairs, appraisals and memo are not part of its POS pricing page, so stores that do bench work usually add other tools. Flawless POS works with Shopify if you want to keep your Shopify store and run the counter, the bench and your customers in Flawless.
Can I switch from The Edge or Jewel360 without losing my data?
Yes. When you switch to Flawless POS, we bring over your inventory, customers and sales history and train your team. You can talk to jewelers who switched from Jewel360, The Edge and Crystal before you decide.
How we compared
We read each vendor's own website on October 14, 2026 and list only published prices. Where a vendor does not state something on its public pages, we say so rather than guess. We update this guide every quarter.
